The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Vienna invites applications for a University Assistant (post doc) position. The candidate should have an excellent track record in the field of machine learning, ideally in the life science domain. The candidate will be embedded in a very ambitious international research team. We expect active interaction with the partners of the IMI projects eTRANSAFE, as well as the H2020 project “EU-ToxRisk”.

Your areas of responsibility include the scientific support of our projects related to toxicity prediction, with special focus on machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. We also expect design and execution of own research projects in the field of  pharmacoinformatics, as well as the publication of results in international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, we expect your collaboration in already ongoing projects in the team and your participation in teaching.

Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Connaissances: 
  • PhD in the field of Sciences
  • Excellent knowledge in the field of machine learning, with special focus on deep learning
  • Programming knowledge in at least one language (preferentially Python) and/or knowledge of deep learning/AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTORCH, …)
  • Documented publication activity in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent command of English language
  • High ability to cope with pressure
  • Good team-working ability
  • Ability to publish and present in English
