The Ethics Committee is made up of representatives of the Steering Committee, scientists and experts in the disciplines that contribute to its missions (ethicists, lawyers, philosophers, etc.).

The Ethics Committee advises the Steering Committee on the legal, ethical and societal issues associated with certain IFB activities, in particular the protection of sensitive data and ethical issues related to personal genomics. Its activities include the analysis of ethical issues, the organisation of intra-IFB and public debates and communication on ethical issues.
The Ethics Committee meets once every six months.
